 The First Meeting of the Doha Declaration Follow-up Committee



The first meeting of the Follow-up Committee was held at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria. The Qatari side was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Mal, Advisor to HE the Minister of the Interior, and Dr. Ahmad Hassan Al- Hammadi, Director of Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna. The delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was led by Mr. John Prandolino, Director of the Convention Affairs Section.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress made in the implementation of the Fundingg Agreement and reviewed possible projects by the end of 2016.

It should be noted that the follow-up committee was formed in light of the Doha Declaration Implementation Agreement signed on 27 November 2015. The Agreement provides for the State of Qatar to fund projects and initiatives recommended by the Doha Declaration of the Thirteenth Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Doha last April and over the next four years to the 14th Congress on Crime Prevention to be held in Japan in 2020.
