 Doha Declaration Follow-up Committee holds its fourth meeting in Vienna



The fourth meeting of the Follow-up Committee for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration projects was held at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria.

The Qatari side was headed by His Excellency Major General Dr. Abdullah Yousif Al-Maal, Advisor to HE the Minister of Interior, HE Dr. Ahmed Bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime was led by Mr. John Prandolino, Director of Convention Affairs.

During the meeting, progress made in implementing the funding agreement between the two sides and possible projects by the end of 2017 were reviewed.

It should be noted that the follow-up committee was formed in light of the Doha Declaration Implementation Agreement signed on 27 November 2015. The Agreement provides for the State of Qatar to fund projects and initiatives recommended by the Doha Declaration of the Thirteenth Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Doha in April 2015 and over the next four years to the 14th Congress on Crime Prevention to be held in Japan in 2020.

The meeting was attended by HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna
