 Qatar participates in the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties

HE Major General Dr. Abdullah Yusuf Al-Maal, the adviser of HE the Minister of Interior, leads the Qatari delegation at the eighth session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime hosted by the Austrian capital, Vienna during the period from October 17 until October 21, 2016.

Speaking at the high-level opening session on Monday, October 17, 2016 morning, HE the adviser stressed on the keenness of the State of Qatar in achieving the objective of the Conference of the Parties, which is to improve the capacity of Party States to combat transnational organized crime and promote the implementation of this agreement and review them.

Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Maal shed light on the Doha Declaration released at the 13th UN Congress on Criminal Justice and Crime Prevention, hosted by Doha last year, which reflected the efforts of the State of Qatar to address transnational organized crime and related crimes such as terrorism, and establish effective, equitable, humane and accountable criminal justice systems.

He also expressed his extreme happiness about the great efforts made by the Member States in the implementation of the recommendations of the Doha Declaration, noting at the same time to the ambitions of Doha to strengthen cooperation in prevention programs and the fight against emerging crimes as well as corruption, drugs and terrorism.

HE stressed on the extraordinary efforts of the State of Qatar for the implementation of the recommendations of the Doha Declaration and fight the serious challenges posed by organized crime, prompting Qatar to donate fund for projects and programs to implement the recommendations of the Doha Declaration, ranging from the integrity of the judiciary, prisoner rehabilitation and their reintegration into society, crime prevention among young people through sport and education for justice
