MoI Celebrates Arab Police Day

Under the patronage of the Minister of State for Interior Affairs HE Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI) celebrated Arab Police Day on Wednesday, january 4, 2012. The Director General of Public Security (DGPS) HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al-Khulaifi, MoI officials, heads of Arab and non-Arab expatriates communities and media persons attended the celebration held at Ritz Carlton Hotel. The day is celebrated on the remembrance first Arab police and security officers conference held at Al-Ain, UAE in 1972.

As part of the celebration,HE the DGPS honored Senior officers and police person from Police Force and Reserve Police, toppers graduated from police colleges and institutes, families of martyrs while on duty and production team of an awareness film from Public Relations Department of the MoI that won Arab Interior Ministers' Council award. As well, Qatar Petroleum (QP) also was honored for their partnership with the Ministry. Director of Dukhan Operations at QP Ahmad Saif Sulaliti was honored on behalf of the QP.

The program was started with recitation of some verses from Quran. Addressing the event, HE the DGPS said that the Interior Ministry and its departments and sections have taken all the care and attention to keep pace with urban development and economic growth of the State of Qatar under the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir and HH the Crown Prince. The Ministry has made tremendous success, in the framework of its strategy and the five-year plan, by opening of a number of new buildings to be able to carry out its functions and security services efficiently and effectively, which provides the appropriate atmosphere for the development plans and strengthens its position in Arab and international forums.

HE the Director General of Public Security emphasized that this occasion is an opportunity to renew our pledge to make more efforts to sharpen our services in coordination with all relevant agencies, state institutions and civil society organizations based on the concept of shared responsibility and community policing in maintaining security and safety.

Concluding his speech, HE the DGPS thanked all attendees, the state agencies, bodies and institutions, all national companies, civil and police employees of the Ministry of Interior and all citizens and residents, urging everyone to promote cooperation and communication with the security agencies to achieve more success and serve the this land.

The director of Public Guards Department Brigadier Ahmed Jassim Al-Jufairi addressed the event on behalf of the those who are being honoured.
