The General Directorate of Civil Defense (GDCD) held on Monday (9/6/2010) morning the graduation ceremony for 66th and 67th batches of Firefighting Foundation Course which lasted for 12 weeks in which 68 trainees from Operations Department attended. The trainees completed the course successfully with 100% pass with first class.
The ceremony held at the GDCD auditorium in Wadi al Sail and was attended by the Director General of the GDCD Staff Birg. Adulla Mohammed Al Suwaiti, Brig. Aman Saa'd Al Sultai, director of Operations Department Brig. Hamad Al Duhaimi, director of Prevention Department Brig. Abdulla Jasim Fakhroo, Brig. Ahmed Hasan al-Obaidan, the assistant director of the Operations Department Col. Jamal Al- Ajamai and a number of officers from the GDCD.
Staff Brig. Abdulla Al Suwaidi congratulated the graduates for their excellent performance in the course and wished them the best in their assigned duties. He also urged them to strive more and make use of what they have studied in practical life in order to fulfill their mission to preserve life and property. He also thanked officers, petty officers and the staff of training & development section for their efforts in successful completion of the courses.
The assistant director of Administrative Affairs Dept. Maj. Mohammed Ahin said "The training and development has become an important and essential requisite at present. It is the basic pillar of the development for an individual and his excellence and it is the weapon of fair competition by which one can achieve his ambitions and hopes".
"Believing in our role in training and qualifying the new entrants, the course was designed to achieve the objectives such as imparting the basic skills of firefighting and rescue, different type of disaster management and improving body fitness. The course was focused on theoretical lectures and practical training in relation to firefighting using individual fire extinguishers and rescuing from enclosed places, car accidents and rescue using ropes. It also covered training of some civil defence equipments and first aid to get involved in operations management in order to protect life and properties", He added.
The graduates expressed their gratitude for all employees of Training and Development Section stressing the training and information provided for them will play an important role in preparing a qualified cadre capable to carry out assigned tasks.
At the end Staff. Brig. Abdulla Mohammed Al Suwaidi honored top rankers and distributed certificates for the participants.
