Doha: The Ministry of Interior took part in the Garangao night celebration of Qatari children. The traffic personnel took care of traffic flow during the night and they were available constantly at different streets and roundabouts to help thousands of children who were out at residential areas celebrating Garangao. Traffic Department and Rescue Police (Al Fazaa) patrols joined children’s celebration by distributing sweets and chocolates and Garangao kits in several areas including Souq Waqif where there were a huge number of children and families.
The Ministry organized a number of programs on Tuesday (24/8/82010) evening as part of the celebration. “Campaign for Safe Driving” launched by the National Campaign for Road Accidents Prevention (NCRAP) of Traffic Department in association with Qatar Gas also took part in Garangao celebration. The NCRAP conducted various cultural activities for children such as traffic awareness competitions, educative and recreational programs and sweet distribution at Hamad hospital and Hayat Plaza.

The NCRAP and Traffic Department in collaboration with Qatar Gas distributed more than 1000 Garangao kits and gifts and another 150 gifts were given for children participated in competitions. The program also included traditions cultural songs.
In coordination with Hamad Hospital, a number of Traffic patrols visited children at Hamad Hospital and distributed Garangao kits to make them feel happy and that they are also part of the celebration although they are in hospital.
The Capital Security Department (CSD) joined the Garangao celebration at the Mall shopping complex and distributed Garangao kits and other gifts for children. Maj. Mohammed Saad form CSD said that it is Department’s pleasure to join the children in this beautiful celebration. “We are delighted to join with them in this night of traditional celebration. We are distributing more than 400 kits to create a good relation with them and let them know that police is always with them for any kind of help.” Added Maj. Mohammed Saad.
The Qatar Police Sports Federation celebrated the night at Qatar Sports Club in the presence of vice president of the Federation Brig.
Abdullah Saad Al Sulaiti, General Secretary Col. Mohammed Ali Hobash. A good number of children and families attended the programs. Garangao kits were also given for all children and gifts and prizes were given for those participated in competitions. Police Canine Department also had a big role in these programs and competitions by organizing police canine shows.
Traffic and Patrols and Community Policing Sections at North Security Department also distributed gifts and Garangao kits for children in those areas under their jurisdiction to be part of this colorful celebration.
