The Permanent Committee for Drug and Alcohol Affairs (PCDAA) kicked off its summer activities at Msemeer sports club on Wednesday 21/7/2010 as part of National project for awareness about perils and risks of drug (Wiqaya). Wiqaya comes under broader framework of national strategy (2010-2015) for combating drugs.

Secretary of PCDAA Capt. Ibrahim Al sameeh delivered a lecture explaining the objectives of Wiqaya and efforts of PCDAA in creating awareness about drug abuse and protection from it. He also spoke about different types of drugs and risks that causes on health, economic and social levels and he cited free time, attempt to imitate others and curiosity as the main reasons of drug addiction.

Capt. Ibrahim stressed the importance of utilizing the free time creatively and attaining maximum benefit out of summer vacation by involving in sports and education activities. He also warned about bad friendship, which pushes many into drug.

He urged on the need of inspiring young to achieve their ambitions and to develop in them aspiration to attain success in different fields, emphasizing the role played by sports and youth clubs in utilizing the energies of youth and providing them proper orientation.

'' The summer activities will continue until 8/8/2010 and there will be a number of activities in all sports and youth clubs and other community centers specially aiming at youth and children delivering them message of Wiqaya in a simple and easy method", added the Captain.
