NSD holds Comprehensive Security Awareness Programme

Community Police Section of Northern Security Department (NSD) in coordination with Qatar Police Sport Federation organized a comprehensive security awareness program on Wednesday morning 14/7/2010 at Qatar Sports Club.

Lt. Shaheen Rashid Al Ateeq from the community police section of NSD said that the Drug Prevention Department, Traffic Department, Civil Defense Department, Coasts and Borders Security Department were involved in the programme. This program was aimed for students participating in summer activities to provide them with security related information and safety requirements during summer vaccation. He said this event would be followed by other events with the beginning of the next academic year and he thanked Qatar Sports Club for hosting the program.

MoI officers' children involved in summer activities organized by the Police Sports Federation as well as the students of summer activities conducted by Qatar Armed Forces attended the program.

Lt. Ali Mohammed Ali from the Drug Prevention Department delivered a short introductory lecture on drugs in which he explained all types of drugs and its perils that badly affects mind and body. He also cautioned about bad friends. It was followed by a video presentation highlighting the achievements and efforts of Department in the fight against drugs by tracking culprits behind this and bringing them into justice.

First warrant Officer Fahad Shuraidah from Traffic Department gave a brief explanation on some articles of the traffic law that contributed much to reduce the number of traffic accidents. He also covered many articles related with traffic violations, point system, and dealing the yellow box at the traffic signal, safety rules and cautioned of the risks that may result because of non-compliance with safety belts or talking on the mobile phone while driving.

Islamic programmes presenter for Qatar & Gulf Voice Radios Prof. Khalid Mohammed Bumooza , giving a short religious address, urged attendees to adhere to the Sharia and contribute to create a society enjoying the grace of security.

Lt. Mohsen Mohamed Ruwaie from Coasts and Borders Security Department presented a lecture on requirements of maritime safety and he explained tasks carried out by the Department and security services provided. He also expressed the Department's keenness to provide all the awareness instructions for the prevention of accidents introducing them to many of the procedures and the steps required for sea goers.

Lt. Jaber Mohammed Al Marri from Civil Defense explained the objectives and duties of civil defense in controlling disasters and hazards adding safety requirements to be followed especially in the summer.

At the end, awareness pamphlets and leaflets prepared by the concerned departments in cooperation with the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior were distributed.
