Communities Open Football Championship Ends

Under the patronage of Minister of State for Interior Affairs H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Qatari Police Sports Federation in cooperation with Al Yarmouk Preparatory Indipendant School organized the Communities Open Football Championship on Saturday, 30/1/2010 at Al Yarmouk school ground.

17 teams took part in the championship, in which 15 were from the expatriate communities in Qatar.

Lt. Aref Abdul Rahman who inaugurated the championship said that the aim of organizing this championship is to support the efforts of Qatar to bid for the 2022 world cup. Lt. Mubarak Al Ali explained the rules and regulations of the championship.

Teams of Lakhoya, Qatar's old football team, Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, Lebanon, Iran, Briton, France, Germany, Brazil, India and Holland took part in the championship.

The semifinal was held between Moroccan team and Qatar's old football team and Brazilian and Sudanese teams. The Moroccan team won the match with Sudan for one goal and bagged 18000 Qatari riyals as the first prize while the Sudanese team got 12000 riyals as second prize.
