H. E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs inaugurated the "Electronic Licensing System" of the Fire Prevention Department on Tuesday, 30/6/2009 morning.

The new system allows the customers to complete the services rendered by the Fire Prevention Department under the General Directorate of the Civil Defense electronically through the website of the Ministry of Interior (www.moi.gov.qa).

From the Ministry of Interior, Brig. Abdul Azeez Al Ansari, Director of Logistics Department, Staff Brig. Abdullah Muhammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of General Directorate of the Civil Defense, Brig. Salih Khamis Al Kubaisi, Director of Information Systems Department, Brig. Abdullah Jassim Fakhro, Director of Fire Prevention Department, Lt. Col. Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of PR Department and Eng. Abdullah Fakhro, Deputy Director of Licensing Complex under the Muncipal and Urban Planning Ministry attended the function, which held at the headquarters of the Fire Prevention Department in the Garnata district.

In a statement to the media after the inauguration ceremony, H. E The Minister of State for Interior Affairs said "The initiative of the Fire Prevention Department to provide its services electronically and to complete all procedures through the website of the ministry comes under the comprehensive plan drafted by the ministry, which aims at offering the ministry's services easily for the customers, either they are individuals or companies, in order to save their time and efforts and to perform the services according to the latest electronic methods that guaranties speed and quality for the provided services".

H. E. The Minister also added that the ministry is continuously implementing the modernization and development plans at all levels and pointed out that the future period will witness more development projects. At present, the work is going on the "Personal Services System" that offers service for the customers according to the latest electronic technology. In addition to this, the ministry will open a number of new buildings for each of Dukhan Security Department, Unified Services Centre for companies at Industrial Area, Al Dhaa'in centre, Information Systems Department and also for other projects.

"The Fire Prevention Department is concerned with the safety and security procedures in various establishments and attempts to prevent the accidents with the aim of protecting the lives and properties. This process is carried out through issuing a group of licenses after confirming that the safety requirements and demands are available at the premises of the buildings. For this reason, we needed to create a system that will ease the procedures on customers, starting from introducing the service seeker about the procedures that should be followed and the documents that should be attached with the request to the fire prevention department" said Brig. Abdullah Jassim Fakhro, Director of Fire Prevention Department explaining about the new system. 

Brig. Fakhro then added that the new Electronic Licensing System provides the services of approval of engineering sketches, issuance of certificates for building completion, commercial licenses, import and storage of dangerous materials, issuance of gas distribution card and safety and security equipments import and installation certificate. He also mentioned that, during the last 4 weeks, which was testing period of the new system, we received about 754 applications electronically and this assures that the establishments and companies are responding quickly with the services rendered by the fire prevention department. Prior to official launch of the project, the department has conducted an introduction lecture for the representative of the consultants and engineering offices.
