Under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Col. Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Muhanna Al Murri, Assistant Director of Police Training Institute (PTI) inaugurated recently the activities of the "Annual joint Medium Course for officers working in the field of drugs prevention in the GCC member countries" .
Col. Abrahim Ali Samrah, Head of police sciences in the PTI , Lt. Col. Eisa Al Muhannadi, Assistant director for investigation affairs at Capital Security Department attended the inauguration ceremony of the three days course which was held at the main conference hall of Capital security department.
Dr. Al Murri who delivered the welcome speech said " The PTI is keen to conduct the course like this with the participation of lecturers from Sharjah Academy of the UAE, Naif Arab University for Security Affairs in Saudi Arabia and also the lecturers from Qatar from various related organizations".
The joint medium course for officers has been organized as an implementation to the decision of Their Excellencies GCC Interior Ministers which was taken during their 5th meeting held in Muscat of Oman in November 1996. 20 officers from the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar are participating in the course.
The course aims at improving the performance of security personnel by providing knowledge and necessary expertise to carry out the duties of drugs prevention in addition to imparting to them the practical and application skills in their specialization.
The course attendees will learn various parts of the subject like developing the skills in holding rigid, flexible and electronic surveillance, Drugs comparative law in the GCC member countries, national and international treaties on drugs prevention, drug trafficking through sea, ways of prevention, international cooperation and also will cover the materials used for drugs production".
